Hard Rock International has shut down 10 of its outlets across India after terminating its franchise agreements with JSM Corporation Pvt Ltd and related entities. The decision effectively brings an end to the operator’s management of the brand’s cafes and retail outlets across several major Indian cities.
The closures impact Hard Rock Cafe locations and Rock Shops in multiple cities including Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, New Delhi and Pune. The Bengaluru outlets affected include those at the city centre, the international airport and Whitefield, while two outlets in Hyderabad—Hyderabad and Hitech City—have also ceased operations.
In a statement, Hard Rock International confirmed that it had formally ended its agreements with JSM Corporation, which previously held the rights to operate Hard Rock Cafes and Rock Shops in India. The termination of the franchise arrangement has resulted in the immediate closure of the affected locations across the country.
The company clarified that the Hard Rock Hotel Goa will continue to operate as usual. According to the statement, the hotel is managed separately and is not connected to JSM Corporation or the terminated franchise agreements.
Founded in 1971, Hard Rock Cafe is a globally recognised chain of music-themed restaurants, bars and memorabilia stores. The brand operates in more than 70 countries worldwide and is known for combining dining, live music and entertainment under a single hospitality concept.
